Product Information
In the first half of 2012, Vox will launch a satellite service that is set to change the way South Africans access the internet. Many South Africans still don't have access to reliable, affordable bandwidth. ADSL services aren't available everywhere, and, until now, satellite internet has been prohibitively expensive. YahClick from Vox is going to change that.
YahClick is a project of Abu Dhabi-based Yahsat, which launched its Y1A communications satellite over the Middle Easy in April 2011 and plans to launch its second, Y1B, over Africa in January 2012. Yahsat has selected Vox Telecom as a service partner to roll out this unique broadband offering to the South African market.
YahClick is a perfect broadband option for those who can't get ADSL, are still on dial-up or only have access to fluctuating wireless services, From a business perspective, it's suited to companies with multiple branches in outlying areas, as well as those companies that require a backup service in case of an outage.
Based on Ka-band satellite technology, YahClick will offer download speeds of up to 5Mbps and upload speeds of up to 3Mbps. While traditional satellite technology utilises broad single beams covering entire continents and regions, YahClick's Ka-band spot beams provide coverage over highly targeted areas (a smaller footprint on the ground), which simply means more reliability, greater efficiencies on the ground, smaller antennas and lower costs for the end user, as well as the elimination of issues with spectrum availability.
The YahClick Ka-band consumer and business broadband service compliments Vox's vision of providing the widest possible range of telco products and services to consumers and businesses. Vox will offer a range of first class packages to suit any environment and user segment, right from basic internet access for a home user to high speed service plans for the corporate user. While satellite is an obvious choice for areas that lack access to formal telecommunications and ICT services, Vox's new range of satellite packages will ensure that satellite is a viable alternative to any internet user in South Africa. The following is available:
• A variety of plans terms to suit both consumer and business speed and bandwidth requirements (bandwidth availability is reset daily with option to top up when needed)
